# VisualScript (VSON)
VisualScript or VSON is SmartDraw's special form of JSON that lets you skip the drawing process and generate diagrams from data automatically.
VSON leverages SmartDraw's intelligent formatting to make specifying a tree or a flow as simple as specifying the parents and children. No positioning information is needed because the intelligent formatting engine knows how to lay them out perfectly on the page. You can create diagrams without using any coordinates at all.
SmartDraw AI relies on VSON to be able to generate a diagram from simple natural language prompts. LLMs can learn and write VSON which SmartDraw can render as a floor plan or a diagram.
