# Moving Shapes Connected with Automatic Connectors and Intelligent Formatting
Diagrams powered by SmartDraw's Intelligent Formatting engine consist of shapes linked by connecting lines (we call them Automatic Connectors) that are automatically aligned and spaced evenly.
To move a shape from one place to another, just click down to select it and, without letting go of your mouse, drag it to a new location. Look for a **white anchor to appear** as you approach the *new location*. This confirms a connection to the new location on the diagram. Once the moved shape snaps into place everything will realign and reconnect perfectly.
