# Mentions and Notifications
You can mention or tag other users in notes and comments added to a shape in a diagram. Mentioning a user notifies them when they next login to the app or in Slack if your admin has integrated SmartDraw with Slack. ### Tagging a User in Comments and Notes
1. Select a shape.
2. Right-click and choose **Add Comment** or **Add Note**.
3. Type the character "@” followed by the name or email address of someone on your license. You'll have to type at least 2 characters before you'll see a list of names pop up.
4. Select the person you want to notify from the pop up list of users.
5. Continue to type out your comment.
6. When you close the comment, the person tagged will be notified.
### Getting a Notification
If someone tags you in a comment or note, you will see a red dot appear next your name in the upper right corner of the SmartDraw app. When you open the drop-down menu associated with your account, you'll see a list of your mentions at the bottom. New notifications will have a red dot in the upper-right corner.
If you happen to be editing the document at the same time as someone else tags you, you'll see a pop-up notification appear momentarily alerting you that someone mentioned you.
If you click on a mention, you'll be automatically taken to the shape where you were tagged so you can see the full comment and respond if needed. The mention will now be considered "read". You can also delete your mentions without reading them using the **Delete All** option above the list of mentions.
### Getting Notified on Slack When Tagged in a Comment
Your administrator can also integrate SmartDraw with Slack, which will let you get notifications about mentions on Slack.

Depending on what your administrator has named the SmartDraw app, you'll find it in the app section of your Slack instance. In the screenshot below, the SmartDraw app was named **SmartDraw Mentions**, but yours may be different.
When someone tags you in a comment, you'll see a typical notification in Slack under the app for SmartDraw.
If you open the notification in Slack, you'll see the comment and the document it came from.
If you click the document link in that notification, the document in question will open in SmartDraw and you'll see the relevant unread mention in the collaboration menu marked with a red dot. Click on the mention to be taken to the SmartDraw shape you were tagged in.
