# How Document Settings Work During Collaboration
Certain document settings, like showing rulers, turning the grid on and off, and adjusting the zoom level, are not shared during a collaboration session. However, when the last collaborator leaves the document, their settings will be saved, and the next time the document is open, those saved settings will be applied to the user.
