# Add Sub-Charts and Sub-Processes
The sub-chart feature lets you break down complex diagrams into more manageable components. This feature works for flowcharts, mind maps, and org charts.
Let's look at flowcharts as an example.
When you're ready to add a new sub process to your flowchart, select a shape that represents the step you want to explore in more detail. Click the "**Create a Sub-Process**" button on the SmartPanel.
This will create a new page linked to the selected shape where you can continue your diagram by creating a sub-process.
To navigate between the original process and the new sub-process, click on the link icon below the shape.
This new sub-chart is just another page in your document and it is automatically linked to the original page.
